Watch Dogs Multiplayer Info: Ubisoft Confirms Eight Player Open-World Free Roam [VIDEO]

Watch Dog Multiplayer Will be Eight Player Open-World Free Roam, Ubisoft Confirms

More Watch Dogs info has been leaking out recently, and we've been learning more about the game that looked so good when it was first shown and has since been pushed back. Yesterday a leaked trailer followed by an official announcement gave us the release date. Now we're hearing more about its multiplayer, and this time the details came straight from Ubisoft.

Creative Director Jonathan Morin was very straightforward about answering a fan's question on Twitter regarding a rumor about the multiplayer. User @UnrealThreats asked Morin, "Is it true there will be multiplayer open world free-roam (8 players)?" The Ubisoft boss simply responded with a "yes".

So there you have it: some concrete details about the multiplayer relatively out of the blue and without much fanfare at all.

I'm not sure where that rumor came from, but it was obviously accurate. I will also say it sounds pretty intriguing and potentially a lot of fun. Freely roaming the city that Ubisoft has so far shown us with other players could be pretty amusing. Add in hacking some traffic lights and other objects to mess with people, and you've got what seems like the start of an interesting multiplayer mode.

Watch Dogs was originally supposed to already be out with an initial release date of November 19, 2013. The game was pushed back from the next-gen console launch window to work on it further just a month before its release--which is okay with me if they're shipping a better product. The game will launch on last and current gen consoles as well as PC on May 27. You can check out yesterday's new trailer below.
