Get ready to hack the planet as we have just got wind of a definitive release date for Ubisoft's Watch Dogs. The ever vigilant eyes at VideoGamer spotted a now-removed Tweet by European video game retailer GAME. A video leaked on Xbox.com confirms the release date to be May 27! I don't think you'll need any grains of salt to confirm this news!
Ubisoft has stated that there will be a big announcement at 18:00 CET; But once again internet detectives prevail and leaks pour out information before originally intended. It has been long rumored that Watch Dog's release date would be revealed this month, with folks on NeoGaf expecting news a few days ago.
Watch Dogs was originally delayed from a November 19, 2013 release date. It had been moved from the next-gen console launch release up until now. This considerable delay obviously upset many fans, but several months of additional development can do wonders for a game's release quality. A similar thing happened with Ubisoft's Rayman Legends; it was delayed for several months to make it a multiplatform game, and as a result, shipped with a whole lot of additional content for free. A more polished and functional game is alright with me, even if the wait hurts.
Watch Dogs will be release on current and last-gen consoles and PC. Ubisoft's official announcement is expected later today, but they'll probably just push that up since everyone knows already! Kinda ironic that their game about hacking and cyber-security has seen so many leaks. Hopefully they take that in stride. People just want to play their game.
