In the ongoing saga that is a PC and next-gen (now current gen) port of Rockstar's latest and greatest title, Grand Theft Auto V, today we're reporting on another retailer listing for the highly requested port. By way of Eurogamer Portugal, we're learning of an preorder on Worten, a Portuguese retailer that sells electronics, books, appliances, and games.
On Worten, Grand Theft Auto V is listed for the PlayStation 4. Preorders for the game can be grabbed for €5.00. Eurogamer Portugal received a response from the retailer. Here it is via Google Translate, "On the issue that got us, we would inform you that we have the information that Worten stores will sell the game in question,” the retailer said, confirming their listing to be accurate.
Since its September release, requests to see Grand Theft Auto V on PC and the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One have been abundant but Rockstar have remained silent, But, and here's the very big but, is that the evidence to suggest a GTA V port is coming, is quite large. Let's do a small rundown, shall we?
Just last month, Czech retailer SuperGamer.cz listed Grand Theft Auto V for an Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC release for June 13. The listing has been since removed but NeoGaf has the picture evidence. Prior to that, Brazilian retailer Nuuvem director Thiago Diniz told Codigo Fonte (now removed or edited) that the game would be sold in March on his store.
Retailer listings not enough evidence for you? Well, on January 15, DSO Gaming reported on a Guru3D member by the name of ELC777ID finding a GTA V profile in AMD's 13.30 beta GPU drivers. The profile was previously found in a former AMD driver but removed for several iterations until 13.30.
Lastly, when the game released, enterprising code sleuths quickly found PC and PS4 references in within the game's files. These 2000 or so lines of code listed mentions of improved effects and PC settings. Shortly after that, more PC port evidence was found in Rockstar's iFruit companion app for GTA V, going so far as allegedly including images of a PC rendition of the GTA V game manual.
Grand Theft Auto V on PC and current gen consoles is no doubt happening. At this point, it really doesn't feel like it's a question of if but rather when. When will Rockstar officially unveil a port of their incredibly successful game? I don't know, but a lot of these listings/leaks are pointing toward a Spring or Summer release. Let's just hope that it's soon, because I've actually not yet played the game at all. Crazy, right? I've been patiently waiting to play GTA V on my PC with all of its improvements for awhile now.
Come on, Rockstar. We're waiting.
