Warframe PS4 Update 12 Released, New Warframe Named Zephyr, Game Modes and Fixes Included

The PlayStation 4 version of the free-to-play third-person shooter Warframe received a huge update today, adding a new aerial-combat warframe (the powered suits you battle as) and a ton of tweaks and fixes.

Titled Update 12: Zephyr Rises, the patch adds the eponymous Zephyr, which is a super mobile, air-based warframe that focuses on attacks from above. The announcement video below outlines its abilities and skills, explaining each one with a voiceover while they are demonstrated.

The patch also adds Interception missions, in which you attempt to seize and hold key points or structures on the map while you're attacked.

In addition to the new warframe and game mode, the update has a lot of fixes and changes it implements to improve the balance and play of the game--all the good stuff you want and expect from a patch.

Tweaks include changes to certain weapon and ability damage, critical chance, warframe armor values, and other aspects of battle. There are also quite a few bug and exploit fixes, and some UI improvements. Check out the exhaustive list here, because there's an absolutely huge number of patch notes listed!

Avid fans and players of the game will no doubt enjoy such big changes and additions, and will be glad to see Digital Extremes paying plenty of attention to the console version.

Warframe was released for PC on March 25, 2013 and uses a free-to-play model with in-game purchases available. The PlayStation 4 version was released later with the launch of the console, November 15, and an Xbox One version is rumored to be in the works.
