Visiontrick Details "Fourth-Person" Gameplay for Pavilion, for the PS4 and Vita [VIDEO]

Pavilion's "Fourth-Person" Puzzle Gameplay Detailed by Developer Visiontrick

The two man team behind Visiontrick Media are hoping to release a “fourth-person” puzzle game this upcoming Spring. Originally revealed at last year's Tokyo Game Show, Pavilion is a visually striking puzzle game for the PlayStation 4 and Vita, co-developed by Rickard Westman and Henrik Flink.

Pavilion is described as a fourth-person puzzle game with a heavy emphasis on audio-visual imagery, and exploration. Musician Tony Gerber is working on the score for the game.

“Pavilion, the fourth-person puzzling adventure from Visiontrick Media, throws you directly into its mysterious world without any text tutorials or beginning explanations. It is a puzzle game portrayed through exploration and audio-visual imagery. By interacting and observing you gradually, bit by bit, learn things about both the puzzling gameplay and the world itself.”

In a PlayStation Blog update on Pavilion, co-founder and Creative Director of Visiontrick Media, Henrik Flink, described what the studio means by “fourth-person”. “Basically, the character is not your avatar and you are not in control of him. Instead, you have to find different ways — mostly through environmental interaction — to guide, influence or even force him to explore and fulfill the purpose of the world. This indirect control is what we refer to when we say fourth-person,” wrote Flink.

The studio doesn't want you to think that they're using snooty buzzwords to promote their game, but people may do that anyway. To me, the trailer for Pavilion that you'll see below has me interested. The visual style of the game is quite nice and the music track is soothing yet ominous.

Further details on Pavilion will be released sometime in the future. The game will be demoed at the Kyoto Indie Games festival from March 7 to March 9.
