If there was one thing that has so far defined the start of this console generation, it would be resolution debates. Multiplatform game comparisons have been abundant these past few months since both the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One have become available. The tiresome console war warriors have been using resolution and framerate numbers as weapons in order to justify their console purchases – with PlayStation 4 fanboys patting themselves on the back and Xbox One fanboys lauding their “superior” exclusives; one of those exclusives being Titanfall, the upcoming game by Respawn Entertainment.
Vince Zampella, co-founder of Call of Duty developer Infinity Ward and now Respawn Entertainment, very briefly addressed a fan question on Twitter regarding the Xbox One resolution for the upcoming epic multiplayer shooter Titanfall. When asked if a post on a Titanfall fan forum stating that the game will feature a 1080p resolution on Xbox One was true, Vince simply said, “no”.
And that's the end of that. It has been shown time and time again that the Xbox One may not always display games in a full 1080p resolution. The PlayStation 4 has many multiplatform games on it that can reach that highly coveted resolution, but that shouldn't make anyone feel superior to others or bitter. In the end, you're buying a console for multiple reasons, not just resolution.
It's a bit petty to be so immature and fanatical about this matter, but what can you do? The console wars will never stop. People feel the need to champion and defend their electronics as if they're paid to do so. In the end, no one really wins. Just have fun playing your game, alright?
