inXile Entertainment has updated their Wasteland 2 Beta in a big, big way. After two months out in the world they have released their first major update for the game, delivering over 2000 bug fixes, optimizations and balance improvements. Best of all is that there's just more- more- more! You can now find a brand-new "Prison" map, as well as new weapons, new characters, new enemies, and a brand-new inventory. An extended gameplay trailer showing off some of these new features is embedded below.
While Wasteland 2 already has the single best DLC yet made, people have been enjoying the Beta quite a bit. For a game that's not finished it already offers a ton of gameplay, and with this new update they're promising a staggering 30+ hours of gameplay. That Prison map brings the total number of major locations in the game to five, and it features stronger and more well-armed foes than the Rangers have faced so far. Additional smaller maps have been added alongside this major location, making the game that much bigger.
Fortunately you'll have a bunch of new, unrevealed weapons to fight with. New features added to combat will help you out as well, including shotgun and SMG spreads, the ability to use skills in combat, destructible cover, use of height and ladders, and improved visual effects, including death animations.
Another big change is to the inventory, which has reverted back to a more classic grid interface. Now it's easier to manage multiple backpacks, equipping items and moving them between your rangers as you please. There are new hand-crafted icons for each item, as well. This Beta will give you access to the final version when it's released and your time and input with the game will only help better the experience. Grab your rad suit and jump in.
