PlayStation Plus is about to become a tad scarier as it has been recently revealed that Dead Nation: Apocalypse will eventually hit the service. Developed by Housemarque, the folks behind the PlayStation 4 title Resogun, Dead Nation is a twin-stick zombie shooter that launched on the PlayStation 3 back in 2010. If Sony Computer Entertainment Asia is to be believed, then we'll being seeing a PlayStation 4 version of Dead Nation in early March.
The official Hong Kong blog for PlayStation lists Dead Nation: Apocalypse as a free PlayStation Plus title. It's not known whether Apocalypse is a sequel or an updated port, but I'm inclined to believe the latter. Housemarque announced a PlayStation Vita version of Dead Nation last year, but the title has not seen the light of day just yet.
Joystiq reports that a Korean Dead Nation trademark was filed as recently as today, and the listing is registered for both the PlayStation 4 and the Vita. This trademark suggests that Dead Nation: Apocalypse will see a simultaneous Plus release for PlayStation consoles.
Whether you're a fan of PlayStation or not, you've got to admit PlayStation Plus is a pretty darn good deal. The service sees free releases of popular and new titles frequently, and the discounts are pretty nice. I could see Dead Nation being a good fit on the Vita, especially if it retains its online co-op component. Sony Computer Entertainment America has not yet confirmed Dead Nation: Apocalypse, but Housemarque has taken to Twitter to tell fans that they'll have “answers” to what fans have been bugging them about, presumably Dead Nation: Apocalypse.
