The block-stacking game “Minecraft” is now available in all regions on Apple TV through streaming. The price tag for the Apple TV Edition of “Minecraft” is $19.99, according to Owen Jones, the director for Creative Communications of Mojang, the developer of the game.
The price is a limited offer which covers seven pieces of downloadable content of “Minecraft.” Included in the downloadable content on Apple TV are the Holiday 2015, Town Folk and City Folk skin packs, plus the mash-ups of Plastic, Natural, Cartoon and Festive 2016, PC Mag reports.
Ender Update
On Monday, Dec. 19, Apple TV edition launched the Ender Update that was included in the “Minecraft” Pocket Edition and Windows 10 Edition players. However, the Apple TV Edition does not support “Minecraft” Realms or Xbox Live.
“Minecraft” is used by Microsoft to serve as a robo gym to test artificial intelligence. Educators manage world settings and communicate with students from a central user interface by using the Classroom Mode companion app of “Minecraft: Education Edition” which Mojang released in November in time for the new Apple TV Edition.
New “Minecraft” Book
Meanwhile, Max Brooks, an author and fan of the game, is writing a new paperback “Minecraft: The Island.” The author of three other “Minecraft” books announced the upcoming paperback at Minecon 2016. It is a Robinson Crusoe-type of novel, but in cuboid perspective and madder than the original classic story.
The offer of “Minecraft” on Apple TV, although announced by the Cupertino-based tech giant in October, is good only for the Christmas 2016 holiday season, or until supply lasts, according to SlashGear. The Latest Ender Update, which was just rolled out to the iOS and Android Pocket Edition and Windows 10 Edition, includes the Ender Dragon and new items related to “Ends” or “Dragons.”
However, the “Minecraft” Realms support is excluded in the offer for now which would have made it possible for gamers using Apple TV to hook up with players using mobile devices. It would probably be made available eventually, but likely by 2017.
