It's fair to call mobile hit Flappy Bird a true phenomenon in gaming, bursting onto the scene with millions of downloads and capturing the attention of both mainstream and enthusiast press. You've likely tried it, your friends tried it, and your parents probably tried it. But did say, your grandparents try it? And more importantly, were you there to see it?
The guys at TheFineBros have another entry into their great series Elders React, giving a group of older people a topic, or showing them a video, and filming their reactions and responses to questions (there is also a Teens React series). They've now done this with Flappy Bird, as older people are shown the game and try their hands at the frustrating app.
It's not exactly the most successful endeavor.
It is, though, honestly hilarious as they, like many before them, fail over, and over...and over again. Eventually, some progress is made! Most of them make it through one pipe following many tries, and many other cite the fact that they're "not great at this sort of thing" or "not a game player."
It's humorous to watch and if you've played the game, you'll understand. In what I guess is some sort of shameful humble-brag, I'll let you know I've gotten my score into the mid-100's, but haven't played in a while. It's probably fair to say the hype will continue to die down, especially following its removal from the app store, but it was fun while it lasted.
A common answer when the people in the video were asked to sum up Flappy Bird in one word? Frustrating. We've all been there.
