Titanfall is the big game everyone's talking about right now as they try out the beta, and its influences are everywhere. We can't say for sure this great fan-made Team Fortress 2 short film was affected by Titanfall's awesome mechs, but I would expect to see a lot more giant robots in the near future.
This fan video, "The Bolted Behemoth" was made in Source Film Maker, which uses the Source engine Valve's games are made in to allow users to create films in-engine. It maintains the high quality look of the game graphics and, if the user is a good animator, can lead to some great-looking videos.
The creator of this video, The Winglet, appears to be one of those good animators, because he's made a pretty great, funny film here. The characters you know and love try to take down a big, Heavy-style mech, and hilarity ensues. Unlike Titanfall, nobody is piloting this bolted behemoth--it seems intent on causing destruction all on its own. It's a bit violent, but then, it's a game about shooting and blowing up the enemy and this video features a giant killer robot, so that's sort of to be expected, right?
As I said, I wouldn't be surprised if there's a surge of robot and mech themed games and videos in the near future after the splash Titanfall has made, and it isn't even out yet. The game is still on beta on Xbox One and PC (sadly, it will not be coming to PS4).
Enjoy the video below, and check out The Winglet's other videos here, where more Team Fortress 2-centric antics take place.
