Guardians of the Galaxy Video Game? Trailer for Marvel's Latest Superhero Film Shows What Might Be [VIDEO]

Marvel's Funny Debut Trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy

Marvel's upcoming "Guardians of the Galaxy", directed by James Gunn, is a movie about a group of space outcasts and survivors banding together, and its first trailer shows that it might be pretty funny. Lead by Peter 'Starlord' Quill, the Guardians are a ragtag group consisting of Gamora, Groot (voiced by Vin Diesel), Rocket Raccoon (voiced by Bradley Cooper) and Drax the Destroyer, all of whom were playable characters in Lego Marvel Superheroes and will no doubt feature in the movie's game tie-in.

The trailer shows Starlord, portrayed by Chris Pratt, getting captured while attempting to take some sort of artifact, and the group is introduced one by one by whoever is holding them captive. Each hero is given a quick introduction from a character played by John C. Rielly, who tells his associate that Quill himself is the only one that uses the name Starlord, right as Pratt humorously gives them the middle finger.

The trailer isn't terribly informative as far as the plot goes, but it gives us a nice introduction to the universe and characters. It shows that this will likely be a more light-hearted affair, but there's plenty of action and combat towards the end of the trailer.

Everything looks great, from the CGI Groot and Rocket to the well-designed spaceships and backdrops. The humor is appreciated (as long as it avoids becoming too campy or cheesy) as Marvel lets us know there will be more of their banter and sharp jabs as seen in "The Avengers", and likely in higher quantities. The film is due out August 1, and we will hopefully see more of it before then.
