Two-time Grammy Award winner Marc Anthony issued a statement, officially ending his marriage with Shannon de Lima, after two years of marriage. The 29-year-old Venezuelan model has been the American salsa artist's third wife. The separation was reportedly a mutual decision.
US Magazine wrote, quoting a source, about the reason for their split that came weeks after Marc Anthony shared a kiss with former wife and a fellow singer, Jennifer Lopez, on stage. "It just was not working and they did not have enough in common," an insider said as quoted.
The statement issued confirming their separation as reported came with a request that the public give them due privacy. Marc Anthony also said neither will give any comment about this personal issue.
"After much consideration, we have mutually and amicably decided to end our two year marriage," the statement began, "We ask for privacy during this difficult process, and no further comments will be made from either one of us about this personal matter," the statement concluded.
The 48-year-old composer, singer and producer first got married in 2000 to Dayanara Torres, Miss Universe titleholder in 1993, and with whom he has two sons. Their two-year marriage was shaken with issues, leading to their separation in 2002. Later on that year however, Torres and Anthony renewed their marital vows and reconciled, only to announce a year after that they are calling it quits for good, with Torres filing for the divorce paper.
In June 2004, Marc Anthony married Jennifer Lopez and four years to their marriage, his second wife bore him twins. But the Grammy winner's second marriage, too, was plagued with issues and in 2011, he filed for divorce against Lopez.
Before 2014 ended, Marc Anthony tied the knot for the third time with Shannon de Lima. Throughout his third marriage, Anthony did not sever his ties with Lopez and mid-way in November when he was awarded with Person of the Year from Latin Grammy Awards, he hit the news as he received a kiss from Lopez.
