Sony's PS4 Pro is looking to top the competition for high spec consoles this year. The company has stepped in with a hardware that's comparable to a $900 gaming PC. Will the future PS5 be capable of playing games that go beyond realism?
Sony's PS4 Pro Has Doubled The PS4's GPU Performance
According to the developers of "ARK: Survival," the console is at par with high-end personal computers. In a post by Gamespot, Sony's latest gaming console runs on x86-64 AMD "Jaguar' CPU that has 8 cores. The console's GPU is a 4.20 TFLOP AMD Radeon based graphics engine. The PS4 Pro also has a 1TB storage and GDDR5 8GB of RAM.
Sony's PS4 only had 1.84 teraflops of GPU performance, while the newer Pro version has 4.20. Basing on the numbers, gamers will be playing with a faster and better console. In an interview with WCCF Tech, Jeremy Stieglitz has compared the GPU with the Nvidia 970. Stieglitz is the Lead programmer and co-founder of Studio Wildcard. The 970 graphics card is capable of playing "Witcher 3" in full graphics with a resolution of 1080p on 60fps. That's a considerable comparison when we are talking about the PS4 Pro's capability.
PS5 Is 4 Times More Powerful Than PS4 And Twice The PS4 Pro
With those numbers in mind, is the upcoming PS5 the most powerful gaming console in the future? Several analysts have predicted the PS4 Slim and the PS4 Pro. Is it possible that rumors around the next PlayStation console be true?
Many are expecting Sony's PS5 to run on powerful hardware. We're not sure how powerful the new PS5 will be but a previous interview seems to hint us of the console's GPU speed. According to WCCF Tech, Mark Cerny has revealed the possibility of the new PS5 to run on 8 teraflops. That's almost triple the PS4's GPU and double the PS4 Pro.
As of the moment, there has been no comment on the side of Sony. With regards to the PS5's release date, it's a possibility that we'll be seeing the console on 2019 or 2020. Sony has just released the PS4 Pro and the PS4 Slim, releasing the PS5 too early might jeopardize the sales of both consoles. We'll be gathering more information on the PS5's possible hardware. Gamers are hopeful that'll be better than the Nintendo Switch's leaked specs.
