You know your network like CBS has really high hopes for a show if they place right after its most popular show. This should be an indication of how promising "Superior Donuts" could be, since CBS has decided to place the preview of the donut shop-themed multi-camera workplace comedy right after its number one show "The Big Bang Theory" on Thursday night.
After this 'sweet' launch sched, it will be placed right before another dessert-themed workplace comedy "2 Broke Girls" every Monday at 9pm and right after "Man With A Plan" with "Friends" alum Matt LeBlanc. "Superior Donuts" follows the story of a gruff donut shop owner, played by Judd Hirsch and his novice employee played by stand-up comic Jermaine Fowler in an odd-couple style setup.
The new CBS show will also feature characters such as Katey Sagal street cop character who is a regular at the shop, David Koechner of "Anchorman" and Maz Jobrani from "Better Off Ted." Interestingly, Hirsch and Sagal both have appeared in "Big Bang Theory." Hirsch plays Leonard's father while Sagal this season had just played Penny's mom.
The network is certainly looking forward to the success of "Superior Donuts." "This show has been very high on our radar since we first put it in development last winter," said CBS Entertainment president Glenn Geller. He also mentioned that "Jermaine Fowler is a rising young star, Judd Hirsch is a comedy legend and the entire cast is full of comedic talent."
