Dare I be so bold, but it looks like the arrival of the Pokémon Bank in regions outside of Japan may finally be on the horizon. According to Nintendo of American's Twitter account, the app has finally been made available in other locations.
According to a recent tweet, "Pokémon Bank has launched in certain Asian countries," followed by, "Please stay tuned to our social channels for updates on availability in other regions, including North America."
Nothing's concrete, but let's assume this is a good sign that we're not too far off from the Pokémon Bank finally coming stateside. Nintendo promised more information on the Pokémon Transporter and Bank's launch last week.
The Pokémon Bank was originally set to arrive in North America on Dec. 27, but never made it thanks to an influx of new Pokémon X and Y owners who received the games for Christmas. As could've been predicted, the massive amount of players all trying to access the game's various oneline options simultaneously, coupled with the extreme popularity of the Pokémon Bank app led to a severely overcrowded network
Japanese players have been getting the lion's share of the app's benefit, like the addition of the legendary pokémon Giratina. The Legendary Ghost-Dragon pokémon first appeared all the way back in Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl, and has since been reworked for the Pokémon X and Y engine.
Pokémon X and Y released this past fall to rave reviews as well as great sales numbers. It's also been reported by Nintendo Life that Pokémon Director Junichi Masuda expressed interest in making more Mega Evolutions.
The games represent a radical change for the franchise, the top down perspective having been replaced with more of a three quarter perspective, and battles look radically different. As per usual, players will see several new pokémon, 5 of which were teased in the game's trailer at the time of the announcement. There's the usual array of new starter Pokémon, and each game will play host its own type of new, legendary Pokémon. And what's more, a number of classic Pokémon have earned mega-evolutions they can transform into during battle.
If Nintendo provides any release information for when North American gamers can expect the Pokémon Bank and/or Transporter app, we'll let you know.
