Superheroes have become a regular staple in the viewing habits of fans worldwide today, it seems. But, unlike the superheroes that they have been familiar with, a new kind will be featured in a new show, which is being touted as the first superhero comedy series in television. Vanessa Hudgens will play Emily Locke in the new DC Comics series titled “Powerless”. She is the new kind of superhero who has no super human abilities but is a regular person who face day-to-day challenges.
Home to superheroes and villains alike
Emily works as the Director of Research and Development for Wayne Security, a subsidiary of Wayne Enterprises, located in Charm City. Reports say that the city is home to superheroes and villains whose constant conflicts have caused the city’s residents to be frustrated. With sheer determination to make an impact, coupled with an overflowing of bright ideas, Emily will soon realize in “Powerless” that a hero does not necessarily need to have super powers to become one.
Taking care of the collateral damage of war
It is Emily’s job to inspect the situation of the citizens of the city who become collateral damage in the war of the superheroes against the villains. “Powerless” spoilers indicate that Emily will be standing up to one of the superheroes who recently disrupted Emily’s daily commute with his superhero exploits. After the incident, Emily herself will become a hero but in her own way.
Part of the DC universe
In “Powerless”, Emily will have an ongoing battle against her boss who reports say will act like Lex Luther. Being a part of the DC Universe, the possibility that some DC superheroes will be making an appearance in the show is high. Joining Hudgens are known comedians such as Alan Tudyk, Danny Pudi, Christina Kirk and Ron Funches. “Powerless” is expected to premiere on February 2, Thursday, on NBC.
