December 15 is here and the trade rumors are in full swing once again around the NBA. Once again, the Orlando Magic's power forward/center Serge Ibaka's name is being talked about around the league in trade rumors. That's what happens when the team that you're playing with is always involved in trade talks with other NBA teams.
It's no secret that the Orlando Magic lack scoring power and are in desperate need of a scorer to help turn around their season. The Orlando Magic are offering several players on their to roster in hopes of landing a scorer. And that includes Serge Ibaka
The latest trade rumor reports that the Orlando Magic are in talks with the Toronto Raptors about a possible deal before the trade deadline. Serge Ibaka is the centerpiece of the possible deal.
If the rumored deal does become a reality, the Orlando Magic would send power/center Serge Ibaka to the Toronto Raptors. In return, the Orlando Magic would get two players from the Toronto Raptors in small forward Terrence Ross and power forward Patrick Patterson.
The Toronto Raptors, in getting the services of Serge Ibaka, would definitely be one of the top contenders in the Eastern Conference. Currently this 2016-2017 NBA season, the Toronto Raptors are in 2nd place in the Eastern Conference with an 18-7 win loss record. But obviously, the departure of center Bismack Biyombo, who signed with the Orlando Magic as a free agent last summer, has hurt them especially on the defensive end.
The addition of the 6'10" Serge Ibaka would help fill the void left by Bismack Biyombo. With Serge Ibaka, the Toronto Raptors would be able to compete with other elite teams like the defending NBA champions Cleveland Cavaliers, the Golden State Warriors and the San Antonio Spurs. The Toronto Raptors are hoping that Serge Ibaka would be the missing piece that would help propel them to the next level, and that is to win the NBA championship.
The Orlando Magic, meanwhile, would get ample scoring from very reliable players in Terrence Ross and Patrick Patterson. The departure of Serge Ibaka won't hurt the Orlando Magic that much as they still have a very capable center in Bismack Biyombo.
