"How I Met Your Mother" is undeniably one of the most successful sitcoms of all time. It has launched the careers of its main stars led by Josh Radnor, who plays Ted Mosby who narrates throughout the entire span of the series to his children how he eventually found the titular mother.
Along with Radnor are supporting actors Jason Segel, Cobie Smulders, Allyson Hannigan and Neil Patrick Harris. According to The Hollywood Reporter, another spinoff show is being developed called "How I Met Your Father."
"How I Met Your Father" is in development at 20th Century Fox from Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger, writers of the new hit show NBC "This Is Us". The show will be told from a female point of view, although it won't involve any of the cast members of the previous show.
It will also follow the life of how the main character will eventually meet her spouse. "How I Met Your Mother", which was shown on CBS, ran for nine seasons trying to get around to different events and situations in the life of Ted Mosby and the antics of his friend Barney Stinson, the role which revived the career of Neil Patrick Harris and his serendipitous love story with Robin, played by Cobie Smulders which led her to roles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with "The Avengers" and "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D."
Original "How I Met Your Mother" creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas will not be writing on the show but will take a backseat as exectutive producers along with Aptaker and Berger. The first attempt to get the show on the air was a pilot back in 2014 called "How I Met Your Dad" which was written by Bays, Thomas and comedian Emily Spivey.
Greta Gerwig is attached to star and Meg Ryan narrating similarly to how Bob Saget did in the original. CBS execs were not happy with the pilot and eventually the project was shelved. Do you think "How I Met Your Father" will be a hit? Let us know in the comments section below.
