"The Voice" recently capped off its Season 11 run with a successful finale but fans of the NBC show are already awaiting the reality singing competition's return to the small screens. With Gwen Stefani set to reprise her role as a coach alongside boyfriend Blake Shelton, the couple's sweet on-screen interactions may rekindle Miranda Lambert's heartbreaking memories of her separation from the country singer.
2016 marked a year of new beginnings for Shelton, Stefani and Lambert. Following Shelton and Lambert's split in July 2015, the two country artists moved on with their lives and found new happiness with their respective partners.
Shelton and Stefani bonded together after the "No Doubt" singer joined "The Voice" season 7 as a coach. At that time, Stefani was also nursing a broken heart following her separation from Gavin Rossdale. Romance bloomed between the two "The Voice" coaches and they have been together since then.
As for Lambert, she focused on her career and her album where she wrote songs about life and her experiences. After a while, the country singer found someone to love in the person of Anderson East.
Fast-forward to more than a year after the former country music couple announced their separation, the heartbreaking memories of their divorce may threaten to overwhelm Lambert again. Some reports have indicated that the "Vice" crooner have yet to fully recover from her failed relationship with the veteran "The Voice" coach.
Lambert has also kept silent about her former relationship with Shelton and even refused to do early album promotions prior the release of "The Weight of These Wings." A source shared in an earlier interview with Fox News that the "Little Red Wagon" songstress opted to let her music speak for her and tell her story.
Meanwhile, Shelton gushed over Stefani's impending return to "The Voice" Season 12. In a press conference after season finale for "The Voice" Season 11, the country singer commented on how much he wanted his girlfriend to reprise her coaching role in the NBC show given her own style of music, People quoted Shelton as saying.
