Chances of actress Nina Dobrev returning to “The Vampire Diaries” Season 8 to appear in a cameo role are very slim. The reason behind Nina Dobrev likely not fulfilling her promise to Julie Pec, showrunner of the series, is her bad breakup with former boyfriend Ian Somerhalder who plays Damon Salvatore in the show.
Nina Prefers Movies Over TV Shows
Other than avoiding her ex-boyfriend, the busy schedule of the Bulgarian actress is also the explanation why she is not expected when “The Vampire Diaries” Season 8 Episode 8 resumes on Jan. 13, 2017 on The CW. Nina Dobrev was recently included as cast of “XXX: Return of Xander Cage,” a new movie which stars Vin Diesel and Samuel Jackson. She would rather concentrate on the new film than have a cameo role on “The Vampire Diaries” as Elena, iTech Post reported.
But Ian Somerhalder’s comment on their characters in “The Vampire Diaries” Season 8 Episode 8 could be a hint of what would happen when the series returns after four weeks of midseason break. He said the best thing that could take place in Mystic Falls would be for all the vampires and witches just to all go away and let Elena wake up.
Dead Or Alive?
Spoilers from News Everyday bring out the possibility that when “The Vampire Diaries” Season 8 Episode 8 resumes airing, both Damon and his brother Stefan (Paul Wesley) could be dead and Elena would wake up. But it also did not discount the possibility that the brothers would be free from Cade, the devil.
It would be recalled that in the previous episode, viewers found that Damon was not dead but instead spent a day with Cade exploring his memories, particularly the times prior to meeting Elena. Meanwhile, Stefan entered into another deal with Cade to trade his humanity in exchange for Damon's and his freedom. More details of Stefan’s deal with the devil would be seen in “The Vampire Diaries” Season 8 Episode 8, titled “We Have History Together.”
