Showrunner Ildy Modrovich dished a bit of spoilers for "Lucifer" Season 2 in a recent Q&A event with TV Line. A fan asked about Chloe Decker (Lauren German) and wondered if the detective is "more than just human." Modrovich declined to entertain the idea that Chloe could be a celestial being. Instead, she iterated what the midseason finale, "Lucifer" Season 2 Episode 10, "Quid Pro Ho," already revealed about her birth.
"God is the one that basically put her in Lucifer's path, and made her the only human immune to his charms," Modrovich said as quoted by TV Line.
To recap, the midseason finale of "Lucifer" Season 2 revealed that Chloe Decker is a miracle baby. She was a gift from God to a couple who could not bear a child. Amenadiel (D.B. Woodside) realized this when he met Chloe's mother, Penelope (Rebecca De Mornay).
In the midseason finale, "Lucifer" Season 2 Episode 10, "Quid Pro Ho," Amenadiel told Charlotte (Tricia Helfer) that he was sent by God to Earth 35 years ago to bless a couple with a child. This couple was Chloe's parents. The result of that blessing turned out to be Chloe Decker.
Chloe Decker may or may not be an angel. However, she makes Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis) vulnerable. Surely there is a specific reason, other than she is a miracle baby, why she makes Lucifer become mortal. The devil bleeds when he is near or around the detective.
Perhaps the midseason of "Lucifer" Season 2 will further explore Chloe's "origin" or birth. The trailer for "Lucifer" Season 2 Episode 11, "Stewardess Interruptus," teased fans will know more about the detective going into the second half of the season.
