Titanfall Developer Says Fans Shouldn’t Buy Game Just ‘For Technical Reasons’

Titanfall Will Play as Well as it Looks says Respawn

Respawn Entertainment’s upcoming mech shooter title Titanfall has been making some noise for a while now and rightfully so since the game promises to offer so much, as far as heavy machinery is concerned. And while the game is already becoming a popular affair among gamers, Respawn says that fans shouldn’t buy the game just ‘for technical reasons’ as there’s so much more on offer.

Respawn Entertainment software engineer Jon Shiring was recently in an interview with OXM where he spoke about how Titanfall is more than just a technical galore of finesse and graphical evolution.

"We're not going to try to say, 'You should buy this game for technical reasons.’ The game is awesome on all fronts - the gameplay is really new and different, and I think that's what people want," Shiring stated.

Shiring also took the opportunity to discuss a bit about Titanfall’s support of Microsoft’s Xbox one cloud technology. He stated: “The extra bandwidth is what lets us build a world with moving objects, and the available CPU is what lets us do things like AI.”

"It's not just a bullet flying through the air and moving and causing network data, it's an actual AI that's making decisions and trying to shoot at things and looking around.”

And as far as the in-game AI is concerned, while we all know that AI soldiers will serve a number of purposes in Titanfall like fetching players more XP and “converting AI troops to your cause using a Data Knife is a way of putting pressure on the other team,” game designer Mackey McCandlish added to that by stating:

“Even at the top level, the AI will always provide this mix that has unpredictable results and it keeps it interesting and exciting," observed game designer Mackey McCandlish. "They can help or hinder depending on how you learn to interact with them."

Respawn’s Titanfall, which focuses on many generations of humanity living “in the deepest reaches of explored space” with the vast region known as The Frontier which contains “many well-known and inhabited solar systems, but many more worlds remain uncharted,” is currently set to hit Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC on March 11, 2014 in North America and March 13, 2014 in Europe and Australia.
