Sporting Gijon vs. Villarreal Preview
Villarreal ended their three-game winless slide with an emphatic win at home against Atletico Madrid. Manu Trigueros and Jonathan dos Santos scored in the first half before Roberto Soriano sealed the win with a goal in the final minutes.
The win moved El Submarino Amarillo to fourth in the table with 26 points after 15 games. Trigueros praised his teammates in an interview with Onda Cero radio. He called the team's performance against Atletico as complete.
"This has been our best game of the season. To beat a team like Atletico Madrid is very difficult, and we all handed in a complete performance to win. We dominated the encounter and we were very solid defensively. I'm just very happy to have helped the team," Trigueros said.
As for Sporting Gijon, they sit at the lower third of the table in the relegation zone. They have only managed to earn 12 points in the first 15 games. Rojiblancos are coming off a 2-1 loss to Espanyol but they have the home field advantage against Villarreal.
