According to Will Smith, the movie "Collateral Beauty" has helped him in coping up with the hurt from grief owing to his father's death. He even recalled what his father told him before he passed away, "Hey, man, I think its tonight."
"Collateral Beauty" talks about the grief of a father named Howard played by Will Smith who was stuck after his daughter's death. Howard became aimless in his life and went into reclusion. He refused to go on and he just watched his advertising company falling apart.
As Houston Press noted, the loss of his daughter in "Collateral Beauty" has made him feel the pain of losing his father. After his father realized he is leaving, Will answered him "Really? OK." Then the two sat together and looked at each other for about 20 minutes. That was surely painful watching someone you loved dying.
The story shifts to more characters such as Mirren, Latimore and Knightly who were the human form of Love, Time and Death in "Collateral Beauty" wherein Howard has been talking after writing each letters. Howard has been a Manhattan advertising executive but got his life turned upside down after the loss.
