Sony's annual awards ceremony was held in Tokyo on Dec. 1. The PlayStation Awards 2016 honored the biggest PlayStation titles as well as people's favorite games of the year.
According to Kotaku, some of the titles that were honored at the PlayStation Awards 2016 are multiplatform but the awards relate to how these titles perform on the PlayStation hardware. Some of the notable awardees are the big titles like the "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End," "The Last of Us Remastered" and more.
Via 4Gamer, one of the categories in the PlayStation Awards 2016is Gold Prize, which awards games that were able to ship and made a total download of more than 500,000 in Japan and the rest of Asia from Oct. 1, 2015 until Sept. 30, 2016. The winners that received 500,000 yen are "Dark Souls III," "The Last of Us Remastered," "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End," "The Witcher," "Call of Duty: Black Ops III," "Jikkyo Powerful Pro Yakyu 2016," "Sword Art Online: Lost Song," "Dragon Quest Heroes II: Twin Kings and the Prophecy's End," "Dragon Quest Builders" and "Persona 5."
Another category in the PlayStation Awards 2016 is PlayStation Network Award that awarded 500,000 yen as well for the three PSN titles with biggest earnings. These are "Pro Evolution Soccer 2016," "Dragon's Dogman Online" and "Phantasy Star Online 2."
The PlayStation Awards 2016 category Users' Choice Awards winners are "Bloodborne: The Old Hunters," "Dark Souls III," "Fallout 4," "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End," "Overwatch," "Call of Duty: Black Ops III," Dragon Quest Builders," "Persona 5," "Yakuza: Kiwami" and "Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege." These winners were on sale from Oct. 1, 2015 until Sept. 30, 2016.
Another category in the PlayStation Awards 2016 is PlayStation VR Special Award, which recognized titles for their contribution to PlayStation VR. The winners are "Northern Lights," "PlayStation VR Worlds," "Rez Infinite," "Summer Lesson" and "HatsuneMiku VR Future Live."
Lastly, the category in the PlayStation Awards 2016, which is the Indies Special Award that recognizes the titles for their PlayStation line up contribution and were on sale from Oct. 1, 2015 until Sept. 30, 2016. These winners are "Downwell," "Goat Simulator," "Salt and Sanctuary," "Adventures of Scarlet Curiosity" and "Rocket League."
