Deep Down PS4 Trailer: A New Look at Capcom's Free-to-Play Online RPG [VIDEO]

Capcom's Deep Down Gets a Trailer, Lets You Battle Dragons In Futuristic NYC

Deep Down is a free-to-play online RPG coming out for the PS4. Capcom has just released a new trailer for the game that shows exactly what you can expect from it.

Let's see- armored knights running around in dark, dank environments fighting giant, horrifying beasts- of what game does Deep Down remind you? That's right, it seems to owe a lot to Dark Souls. Combat seems to control much the same way as in that modern classic although the difficulty is nowhere near as crushing. After all, this is a free-to-play game and they can't make things too difficult, lest you are discouraged from purchasing any DLC at all.

But, boring and completely undescriptive title aside, the game does look fantastic. The reveal trailer at this year's E3 was one of Sony's showstoppers for sure, showing a knight battling a fire-breathing dragon.

The funny thing, though? Deep Down is actually set in New York City in 2094. Apparently during the game you can find and activate various magical artifacts that teleport you far into the past to seek treasure, a bit like a fantasy version of Assassin's Creed. There's nothing of NYC recognizable from the trailer here but perhaps over the course of the story we'll see the remains of a few landmarks from the greatest city in the world. See what you can find in the so-called Prologue Trailer below and just what kind of toothy enemies you'll have to face.

Deep Down will likely hit the PS4 sometime in 2014. We'll have to see exactly what kind of FTP model they offer us but there doesn't seem like there's any way any fans of dungeon crawlers can pass this up, especially since it appears that you can quest with your friends and battle through these medieval monstrosities. While this is a PS4 exclusive for now there are signs that Capcom is looking to bring it to Xbox One. We'll let you know more on Deep Down as we hear it.
