Vikings" Season 4B has cast Jonathan Rhys Meyers for an undisclosed role. However, series creator Michael Hirst may have already revealed Meyers' character in a previous interview.
Hirst talked about Jonathan Rhys Meyers' addition in "Vikings" Season 4B in a past interview with The Hollywood Reporter. When asked for specific details about his role in the series, the showrunner only revealed that Meyers plays a major character.
Hirst added that Jonathan Rhys Meyers plays a very important role in "Vikings" Season 4B. The actor is
"going to be a major player." Meyers' character will appear sometime in the second half of the season, even though he was cast for Season 5.
However, one line from Hirst's interview may have already contained a clue to the actor's role in "Vikings" Season 4B. The showrunner talked about Meyers' character in relation to his former role in the series "Tudors."
"Personally it's exciting because it brings us back together from Tudor times," Hirst told The Hollywood Reporter.
It is interesting to point out that Jonathan Rhys Meyers also played a major character in "Tudors." He portrayed the late King of England, Henry VIII.
Does this mean that Meyers also plays a king in "Vikings" Season 4B? Was he cast to play another king of England? After all, the second half of the season seems to focus on Ragnar Lothbrok and Ivar the Boneless' journey to England. They are headed for Wessex.
Hirst said that viewers will eventually see Jonathan Rhys Meyers' character going into the second half of the season. So far, "Vikings" Season 4B already aired three episodes. The latest showed Ragnar Lothbrok and his son Ivar the Boneless arrive in Wessex. Perhaps, from there, fans will finally learn who Meyers plays in the series.
