NBA Trade Rumors: Serge Ibaka Headed To The Houston Rockets To Form Super Duo With James Harden

The Orlando Magic continues to be involved in trade rumors around the NBA.  Ever since general manager Rob Hennigan have previously mentioned that the Orlando Magic are looking for a scorer and are willing to trade several players in order to get one, trade rumors have started to follow the Orlando Magic.  The latest trade buzz involves the Orlando Magic and the Houston Rockets talking about a possible deal with power forward/center Serge Ibaka as the centerpiece of the trade.

According to reports, Orlando Magic's Serge Ibaka is headed to the Houston Rockets to join former teammate James Harden.  In this possible trade scenario, the Houston Rockets would acquire center Serge Ibaka from the Orlando Magic.  In return, the Orlando Magic will get either shooting guard Eric Gordon or shooting guard/small forward Trevor Ariza, depending on whom the Orlando Magic chooses.

In acquiring Serge Ibaka, the Houston Rockets would most likely benefit the most from the trade.  With the addition of Serge Ibaka, he would definitely help the Houston Rockets both on the offensive end and the defensive end.

Serge Ibaka can help ease the scoring load of James Harden.  He can shoot from the outside, score inside, and is a good rebounder.  Just imagine the possibilities of a James Harden-Serge Ibaka pick and roll.  On the defensive end, Serge Ibaka can aptly fill in the void left by Dwight Howard.  He's a great rim protector as evidenced by his career average of 2.9 blocks per game.  The 6'10", 27 year old power forward/center  from the Republic of the Congo came in second behind Tyson Chandler in voting for the Defensive Player of the Year Award back in the lockout shortened 2012 NBA season. So far this season with the Orlando Magic, Serge Ibaka has been averaging 14.5 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 1.9 blocks per game in 30.4 minutes of playing time.

The Orlando Magic, meanwhile are struggling this season and are in desperate need of a scorer as evidenced by their offensive efficiency rate of only 94.8 per 100 possessions, ranked 29th in the NBA.  In getting the services of either Eric Gordon or Trevor Ariza, they won't get much scoring from both players.  However if they could acquire Paul George, Eric Gordon or Trevor Ariza could be a great addition as both players could easily compliment Paul George.
