Slightly Mad’s upcoming racing title Project CARS has been in news for a while now after it was revealed last month that the game will be heading over to next generation platforms alongside the likes Forza Motorsport 5 and Gran Turismo 6. However, hardly anything’s known about the in-game visuals that will be offered via the game. But fans will be happy to know that the developer has indeed confirmed that the game will run on 1080p/60fps visuals.
Speaking recently to Gamingbolt in an interview, creative director Andy Tudor was asked if the developing team is looking to feature 1080p resolution and 60 frames per second for Project CARS on the PS4 and Xbox One.
Tudor stated: “Our aim is always for the best gameplay experience possible and if that means 1080p/60fps is achievable without compromising ‘awesome stuff happening whilst racing’ then fantastic. So it’s the target yes, but it’s something every developer has to balance nearer to launch and it’ll be no different for ourselves.”
Project CARS from Slightly Mad is currently said to feature over 60 licensed cars, alongside 35 different race tracks. It has been stated that the player will be able to take part in real world racing circuits (including kart circuits), with a number of real world locations such as California’s Pacific Coast.
A few days ago it was also revealed car manufacturer Renault had joined the franchise with the official press release for the same stating: “Slightly Mad Studios are excited to announce the newest addition to Project CARS’ ever-expanding list of represented car manufacturers as Renault joins the WMD-powered racing title.”
“Renault’s arrival to Project CARS will give players the chance to experience six of the company’s most spectacular & successful road & racing cars, starting with one of their newest creations, the 265hp 2014 Mégane RS road car,” it added.
The company, at that time, had also revealed that the list of Renaults in the game “is rounded out by nothing less than a geniune Le Mans 24 Hours winner, the V6 Turbo-powered Alpine A442B that Didier Pironi and Jean-Pierre Jaussaud took to the top of the podium at La Sarthe in 1978.”
The list Renault cars for the game are as follows:
-1978 Alpine A442B
-1999 Laguna BTCC
-2009 Mégane Trophy II
-2013 Alpine A450
-2013 Clio IV RS Cup
-2014 Mégane RS
As of now, Project CARS is slated for a release in Q3/Q4 2014 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, Wii U, PC, and other next generation platforms.
