Queen Elsa and Princess Anna may return to the big screens earlier than 2018. Recent reports suggest that Disney may be planning to release "Frozen 2" sometime late 2017. There are also new reports claiming that the King of Arendelle will return alive.
"Moana" was a blockbuster hit and some critics believe that the movie's success may open doors for "Frozen 2" to come around sooner than expected. There is also speculation that instead of a 2018 release, the movie may land in theaters sometime 2017. Fans are already looking forward to an earlier "Frozen 2" release as the hype for the highly anticipated sequel has once again been ignited.
Other "Frozen 2" reports debunk a 2017 launch, though. Some critics believe that Disney will take all the time needed to come up with the sequel. They insist that the late 2018 initial announcement of "Frozen 2" release date will still be followed.
A movie like "Frozen" may well indeed need a lot of time to be perfected. Also, Kristen Bell has said earlier this year that she's hoping for production to kick off sometime early 2017. If Disney is only about to start production so the rumored 2017 "Frozen 2" release date will be hit, there will only be a couple of months to touch things up.
Meanwhile, it is speculated that the plot for "Frozen 2" will feature the reunion between the King of Arendelle and his daughters. It said that the long-lost King is alive after all these years. However, some reports claim that the King will not be recognized by the guards at first and he will be forced to leave the kingdom without meeting his daughters.
On the other hand, recent "Frozen 2" spoilers suggest that the reunion between the King and his daughters will still happen later in the sequel. He may get help from Olaf and other supporting characters in the film. They will then confirm to Queen Elsa and Princess Anna that the King of Arendelle has survived the shipwreck and has returned.
However, this rumored plot will also mean that Queen Elsa may have to give up her throne in "Frozen 2." This is only possible, though if the King of Arendelle decides to reclaim his throne.
The "Frozen 2" release date was initially announced for late 2018. Stay tuned for more updates!
