The BBC released a new trailer for "Sherlock" season 4, teasing fans of endless darkness with Toby Jones playing the villain of the season. The new trailer also revealed that Sherlock may be keeping some secrets himself.
'Sherlock' Season 4: Demons Among Us
"Sherlock" season 4 will see Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock Holmes) in a dark place per Variety. The preview for the upcoming season will start off with a voiceover saying "The roads we walk have demons beneath and yours have been waiting or a very long time."
Fans will also see how Toby Jones (Culverton Smith) can manipulate Cumberbatch. Jones will play the genuinely terrifying villain Holmes has ever encountered. The teaser seemed to show that Smith has some power over Holmes, giving the impression that he is threatening to expose Holmes' darkest secret. In a cryptic way, the teaser video ends with the camera focusing on Holmes while he uttered these words: I love you. Some fans believe that these words could be some kind of a code or password that he could be using in "Sherlock" season 4. Perhaps, this is the most intriguing part of the new trailer.
Sherlock Holmes' Darkest Secrets & New Romance?
Arriving after almost two years since the show's third season, "Sherlock" season 4 is just a few weeks away from airing, Comingsoon added. The website noted the reference made to Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's 1904 short story "The Adventure of the Six Napoleons."
The mercurial detective will be seen back in the British soil while Doctor Watson and his wife Mary prepare to become parents for the first time. No further details were revealed about Holmes' dark secrets for "Sherlock" season 4.
However, E! Online suggested that Holmes may actually be getting a new love interest in "Sherlock" season 4. The detective has shown fans a rare glimpse of his emotions by saying those three words. Although these could just be part of a trick that he is devising.
