"Elementary" Season 5 has been CBS' viewers' nightly companion every Thursday for four years, until its schedule was moved to late Sunday nights. However, Sherlock Holmes (Johnny Lee Miller) and Dr. Joan Watsons (Lucy Liu) thrived on their partnership solving crimes in Modern day New York. Until when will the relationship lasts, nobody knows when.
In a report by Gamenguide, "Elementary" Season 5 is getting less and less viewership, since its debut in the first week of October. It is evident that the changes in the schedule from Thursdays to Sundays and from an earlier to a later time slot has lost almost a million viewers. Ratings have fallen from 6 million viewers to 4.9 million in the latest December 11 showing.
Is "Elementary" Season 5 sending negative signals for a season 6 renewal? The series used to be CBS' lowest rated scripted TV show that got renewed, indicating that sometimes ratings does not always determine a show's future. There are many reasons and most of the time these are tied up to the stars contracts, show runners and producers' problems.

"Elementary" Season 5 has got 24 episodes all in all with episode 10 to be aired on December 18. According to Entertainment Weekly, season 5 is still going strong until 2017 but the Sherlock and Watsons' connection may not reach season 6. In this season Watson will be portrayed having lost interest in her crime solving adventures. Hence to her rescue Shinwell Johnson (Nelsan Ellis) will be playing her ally.
Initially "Elementary" Season 5 was ordered for 22 episodes similar to season 4. To the delight of the fans, CBS added 2 more episodes, thus making a total of 24 episodes. Regarding season 6, there is no positive news yet coming from the network that would indicate the renewal of the series.
