BBC One's "Poldark" Season 3 will soon be returning to the screen. But the burning question in fans' minds is: Will Demelza (Eleanor Tomlinson), too, come back to Ross Poldark's (Aidan Turner) arms? Recent spoilers and updates for the beloved time period drama revealed that she's unlikely to do so--at least, during the third season--as new love interests come in the way of their romance.
Of course, the main obstacle is that Poldark has been a philandering, unfaithful husband to Demelza. He was last seen cavorting with Elizabeth (Heida Reid), who was revealed to be pregnant during the finale. But Poldark will find himself facing not just one, but two threats for Demelza's love: George Warleggan (Jack Farthing) and newcomer Hugh Armitage (Josh Winehouse). Will the Poldarks' marriage survive "Poldark" Season 3?
George Warleggan and Ross Poldark
Fans would remember that George Warleggan is Ross Poldark's greatest enemy. He has since married Elizabeth, with whom Ross hooked up with in "Poldark" Season 2. However, spoilers for "Poldark" Season 3 revealed that Demelza, out of anger toward Ross' cheating, will connive with Warleggan to bring Ross down, especially now that he's impregnated Elizabeth. Will they succeed in their mission against the brooding antihero? What else should fans expect in "Poldark" Season 3?
Demelza and Hugh Armitage
But perhaps Ross should be more worried about the greater threat of the two: Hugh Armitage. In the books, Hugh courtedDemelza, and the latter responds to his sweet and romantic ways. Demelza mostly succumbed to him because Poldark was never like that to her even when they were married, and the wounds of his cheating were still fresh in her mind. In the end, Demelza has an affair too--and willingly, although Armitage later on used this to manipulate and blackmail the Poldarks in "Poldark" Season 3.
