"Reign" Season 4 will be returning on February next year, but this is set to be Queen Mary and her court's final season. Its home network, The CW, had recently announced that the show is officially cancelled due to the decline in ratings in Season 3.
With "Reign" Season 4 being the final one for the show, fans have been thoroughly disappointed by this move from The CW. The cancellation of "Reign" Season 5 made many of the fans take their disappointment to social media, where they also showed their support for Queen Mary (Adelaide Kane).
However, some of the fans of the historical fantasy show has acknowledged that it was the right decision to end the franchise with "Reign" Season 4. They said that this was just fitting and practical for the story, not extending too much and compromise the quality.
Ever since Francis (Toby Regbo) died last season, the romantic aspect of the storyline was put on hold. While the character's death had been impending for quite a while, fans still took it by surprise. "Reign" Season 4 will then see a love interest blossoming, with Queen Mary marrying her cousin Lord Darnley (Will Kemp).
If "Reign" Season 4 follows history with accuracy, then the future of Queen Mary is actually not looking great at all. Her life would be going downhill as Lord Darnley, her eventual husband, dies. While the show might show Mary's life going south according to history, fans are hoping that "Reign" Season 4 would show some creative freedom to spare the character out of misery.
Yet to be cast, "Reign" Season 4 will see the arrival of Bothwell, who will be the third husband of Queen Mary. He will then be killing Lord Darnly, and he is deeply in love with the queen. As the two wed though, this would be the catalyst of the downfall of Mary in "Reign" Season 4. With the upcoming season being the last one for the show, fans are just hoping that everything ends well for the beloved characters.
