Retired Air Marshal Calls for Video Gamers to Man Reaper Drones, Gamers 18 Years And Up Qualified For Training

"Battlefield," "Call of Duty" and other war-simulating video games interpret more on combat as its leading edge. With the first-person shooter games these days that are becoming more realistic, a retired Royal Air Force marshal has urged video gamers to operate Reaper drones due to increasing demand of the unmanned aircraft.

Former deputy commander of operations Greg Bagwell who has witnessed the importance of Reaper drones in Syria said that the RAF should try to recruit "18- and 19-year-olds straight out of the PlayStation bedroom," reports the Guardian. "Right, you have never flown an aircraft before [but] that does not matter, you can operate this," he said.

He also added that the law must be reviewed to give more confidence to the drone operators that they are operating in accordance of the law, which retired joint forces commander Richard Barrons also shared the same sentiments. Both Bragwell and Barrons have presented a proof to the all-party committee checking into the law for using drones.

A new memorandum has been announced by the committee on the awareness on the use of drones that have been reached by the United States and United Kingdom. The joint committee has presented its investigation following the death of Reyaad Khan, a 21-year-old killed by a drone in August 2015.

According to PC Gamer, Bragwell also revealed that in the U.K., the psychological burden on drone operators was grave that few of them had to give up because of mental stress. He went on to say that for the modern gamers to be excellent Reaper operator, they will need to have a three-dimensional view as to what is happening around regardless of the fact that gamers are 3,000 miles far. Reaper drones however, have carried out coalition airstrikes attacking Isis in Syria and Iraq.
