Football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is looking to be the first billionaire in the sport after his earnings for 2015 alone amounted to over $200 million. The Real Madrid player was recently accused of hiding wealth and assets in offshore accounts but he wanted to prove that he declared every cent.
Earnings for 2015
Recent reports indicated that Ronaldo earned more than €203 million ($216 million) from January to December 2015. The earnings came to light after recent accusations that the Real Madrid star was hiding his wealth through offshore accounts.
It was clarified that the Spanish Tax Agency was well aware of every penny that Ronaldo makes and that the football player has been transparent of his earnings. Based from the figures, it can be said that Ronaldo earns an amount close to $600,000 a day from his Real Madrid contract and product endorsements.
His salary and winnings for playing soccer amounts to $56 million while his endorsements total to $32 million. Ronaldo's earnings is still continuously climbing.
Endorsement deals
Though soccer is his main source of income, the football superstar also earns a lot of money through his endorsements of big brands like Nike, Konami, Monster headphones, Tag Heuer and Armani. He is the go-to guy in soccer of major endorsement deals because of his talent and massive appeal to the fans.
A ranking of the wealthiest personalities in the world revealed that Ronaldo is on top of the list of the highest paid athletes for this year. He earned more than other wealthy athletes like Lionel Messi, Roger Federer and LeBron James.
