The Zords are back! They are front and center---well actually, hidden in the surrounding haze---of the new poster for the "Power Rangers" movie reboot. Take a close look. These enormous robots made it easier for the Power Rangers to face off colossal giants and monsters bugging them. It's a good thing the Zoids will be there when the Rangers find out what the villains are up to now.
It was confirmed that Rita Repulsa's (Elizabeth Banks) right-hand warrior from old times, Goldar, will be joining her in the new "Power Rangers" movie reboot, a fact that may tip the balance more precariously to their side when the fighting starts. Goldar may be more menacing than ever, now that it has been realized he is the only one who can avoid being blown to smithereens when coming in contact with the force field around the Zeo crystal.
Goldar has the ability to withstand as well as break through the shield around the crystal; it is in fact, the warrior's main purpose for being. This is significant considering that the crystal, which takes its power from the Morphing Grid, is where the Power Rangers source their power. With him in Repulsa's service, there is no knowing what the evil duo can achieve. There is one catch, however. Repulsa has to sweat it out to get him back.
The movie opens with Goldar being reduced to nothing more than gold dust. To bring him back, Repulsa has to scour the world for gold---as well as Goldar's essence which was scattered all over the world. It's probably not Repulsa's usual thing, picking up after Goldar, but the fact that she goes through all the trouble makes one think. She knows Goldar is the key to getting her hands on the crystal, so she can deliver it to Lord Zedd. And it won't take long before she will be ready to start reforming him.
That does not give the Power Rangers a lot of time; they have just 71 hours to intervene with Repulsa's plan. And if Rita Repulsa truly has the Putty Patrollers with her in this "Power Rangers" reboot, the five high-school-kids-turned-superhero-rangers---Trini Kwan/Yellow Ranger (Becky G), Jason Lee Scott/Red Ranger (Dacre Montgomery), Kimberly Hart/Pink Ranger (Naomi Scott), Billy Cranston/Blue Ranger (RJ Cyler), and Zack Taylor/Black Ranger (Ludi Lin)---will have a lot on their hands.
If they have not changed since their first outing in the "Power Rangers" TV series, the Putty Patrollers can come in hordes, meaning the Power Rangers can have their hands full while trying to stop Repulsa. An excerpt describing the Putties reveals that they will be aiding Rita Repulsa as she tries to steal gold bullion from the Central Bank of Russia by getting in the way of the Power Rangers.
The latest reveals on the upcoming "Power Rangers" movie reboot gives a lot of reasons why it should not be discounted. The twenty-first-century reimagining of the favorite Power Ranger characters and villains is shaping out to be an exciting movie not only for those who grew up with the characters but for today's millennials as well.
It is also worthwhile to note that the mention of Lord Zedd points to an even bigger villain with more evil plans who just might figure in a sequel should Rita Repulsa fail her mission. It is set for release on March 24, 2017.
