Relic Entertainment and Sega’s newest real-time strategy title Company of Heroes 2 is back in news, and this time around it has been accompanied by its predecessor Company of Heroes, with the companies revealing that both the games are entitled to a host of new content via new updates.
As far as the first Company of Heroes title is concerned, Sega has announced that the game is ready to be updated with a host of content that will introduce a number of key feature updates to the game's Steam functionality, such as secure leaderboards, battle and arbitration servers.
Company of Heroes 2, on the other hand, “is continuing the fight on the Eastern Front with this update” and will offer players the brand new Theater of War pack, ‘Southern Fronts’ for $4.99/£2.99/€3.99/AUD 6.49. Apart from that, there are two free maps “as well as a number of game improvements and the ability to upload community created maps in the World Builder via Steam's Workshop.”
“These brand new updates show our ongoing commitment to providing the community with regular additions of free and premium downloadable content," said Greg Wilson, Executive Producer at Relic Entertainment, according to the official press release.
"We are also very excited that we were able to deliver the Steam Workshop maps integration for the World Builder before the end of the year as it will become a vital part of providing our community with the ability to create their own content."
However, it seems like new content has been rolled out in both free and paid varieties for Company of Heroes 2. Those who opt for the free update will receive two new multiplayer maps, ‘Hill 331’ and ‘Don River,’ alongside a yet-to-be specified list of "several improvements to the game" and Steam Workshop integration to the recently-launched title’s World Builder construction feature.
For the paying customers, as always, more goodies will be up for grabs as they will be entitled to receive all the content that’s available via the free variation of the update, apart from the ‘Southern Fronts’ Theater of War pack.
“During the Spring Rasputitsa in early 1943, the Red Army launched a series of counteroffensives against German lines in the southwest. While initially successful, the Germans regrouped and managed to regain the momentum to recapture Kharkov,” the press release states about the ‘Southern Fronts’ Theater of War pack.
“Take command of both factions in a series of 10 challenges and battles that feature new environmental conditions; thick mud that impacts vehicle movement and exposes new vulnerabilities.”
Company of Heroes 2 previously saw a June 25 worldwide release.
