Samsung Latest News & Update: Galaxy Note 7 Software Update Available; Causing Device To Stop Charging; Leads To Danger?

As the growing number of petition and unsatisfied consumers on Samsung Galaxy Note 7's battery explosion, Samsung has now developed a software update that can disable Galaxy Note 7 units in the US.

In the past few months, Samsung with its best efforts to get all the units back still has not yet ended. There are some units left that were not turned over to the said company. That is why this software update has been developed.

It can be remembered that, Samsung has first recalled the Galaxy Note 7 in the middle of September after the discovery of the multiple units allegedly to have catch a fire; it then recalled its replacement campaign in mid-October, after the discovery that such replaced units were also prone to overheating.

Now that Samsung has developed the software update, the public feels safer. Reports then began flashing as a new return rate was unveiled at a 93 percent.

In fact, The Verge confirmed that Samsung began limiting the Galaxy Note 7 in US last month "placing restrictions that stops the phones from charging past 60 percent." The update even added a pop-up icon which appears every time the screen is turned on, constantly reminding the user that the device has been recalled and is needed to be returned.

Moreover, the alert went out by at least one Note 7 owner on US Cellular stating that Samsung will be modifying its software as of December 15 to prevent Galaxy Note 7 from charging. "The phone will no longer work."

But on a side note, Tech Crunch compared the update to New Zealand to be more advantageous as this doesn't cut off the phone from mobile networks and from accessing the Wi-Fi. So owners can still use it while being plugged.

With this being said, the device is not totally disabled. Does this mean that the software update could lead to danger as it allows owner to use the device while being plugged?
