Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg is rumored to have political plans, with a possibility of running for office after the revelation of the current contract with Facebook. The news came following the legal suit filed by some shareholders against Facebook.
According to reports, Zuckerberg used the company's voting control to modify the rules to allow him maintain the said control, even if he sells off some of his shares and no longer be the controlling shareholder of Facebook. Recent reports suggest that Zuckerberg is now able to give as much as 99 percent of his company shares to his chosen charities without having to lose the company's voting control.
Moreover, the said new rules would also allow Zuckerberg to keep his control of Facebook even if chooses to serve two years in the government. However, there is no information regarding any specific government position that Zuckerberg is actually aiming at. But given his control over Facebook, many believe that Zuckerberg is likely to give himself an extension to the two years.
That said, Zuckerberg is believed unlikely to run for Senator, given that the Senate term lasts for six years. On the other hand, a Congressional seat serves only for two years, and some claim that Zuckerberg will not opt for so little, Jewish Business News reported.
Meanwhile, the so-called hackathons in Zuckerberg's Facebook usually result in important products such as the first video players, the chat system and the developer platform. After the Facebook engineer prototype their concepts, they reportedly present and vote on them with their colleagues. According to reports, the highest voted concepts will be presented to Zuckerberg and the executive team.
The most popular ideas for the recent hackathon were shown to Zuckerberg and other top executives in a livestream on the personal Facebook page of Zuckerberg. Although not all of the creations will likely become features or real products, reports suggest that Zuckerberg is now prepared to agree with some of them, according to report.
