Xbox One suffering UI slowdown? Users say it’s probably a memory dump issue

Xbox One's UI slowdown is probably due to memory dump issues, says Analyst

So what’s new on a Monday morning? More problems with so-called ‘next generation’ consoles, of course – and to be more precise, Xbox One. Amongst all the problems that have been plaguing the console since release, it has now been reported that there is some issue with the platform’s User Interface as well, suffering from apparent slowdown.

When Xbox One was first announced, Microsoft made it a point to highlight the new console’s user interface that would allow users to make seamless transition from playing games to watching movies and other functions involving social activities.

However, it seems like the same UI has fallen into a bit of mess lately as it has been reported via a recent thread on Reddit that Xbox One’s UI tends to slow done, provided the user has spent enough time on it.

With any real fix for the issue waiting to arrive from Microsoft officially, it seems like users have started figuring out how to deal with the problem, albeit temporarily.

One user wrote, “Just hold power button for 10 seconds,” to mend the problem somewhat. He also added that the Xbox One has “a memory dump issue that's been reported.”

Another suggestion on the matter from a different user stated: “You can also change your power setting to power saving. That way, when you turn off your console, it's a full shut down; not a hibernating mode you get with the instant on option. Then, when you turn on the console afterwards, the stuttering should be gone.”

However, the issue is more widespread than just a few Redditors complaining about it. The topic issue also been reported on Twitter by media figures such as The Verge’s deputy managing editor Chris Ziegler.

Ziegler wrote on his Twitter page: “my xbox one's UI is basically stop motion animation now. time to relent and do a hard power cycle. is this going to be a regular thing?”

Another user wrote: “Once again I have to unplug my Xbox One because the UI was chugging at 1fps. XB1's OS is tiles of hot garbage.”

Microsoft hasn’t spent the current year without its fair share of problems, and the last time something major like this was reported was when it was revealed that some users’ Xbox Ones were actually smoking.

Microsoft, however, later issued a statement to address the problem by bluntly stating that “The situation described is not something we're seeing.”

We are obviously expecting more than that this time around from Microsoft to address the slow UI issue.
