EA is going places this year and it seems like the mobile market is its primary target after the company’s “let’s say successful” release of the next generation Xbox One. No surprise there, as the company has professed its opinion that mobile market will provide some "stiff competition" against consoles. Eager to get a leg up with mobile, EA has announced that Heroes of Dragon Age is now available for iOS and Android.
Developed in partnership with Bioware, Heroes of Dragon Age will allow fans to “build a party of famous heroes and feared monsters from packs featuring an array of unique 3D figures spanning Dragon Age lore,” a press release described.
“Players can battle each other in fast-paced, character-based combat and see their hero-leveling and squad-formation strategies pay off as they earn rewards and climb the leaderboard."
Apart from featuring “engaging quests” while battling bosses along the way, the game allows players to collect hundreds of characters from across the Dragon Age universe, like of rare dragons, giant golems, and other devastating creatures.
Each of these characters will arrive with their own unique abilities, stats, and factions, with players needing to combine each hero powers while deploying powerful runes to increase the respective squad’s power.
With more characters and powers in hand, players will be able to chart out the perfect squad as per the player’s needs, as with more heroes there will be more possibilities for players to explore.
Basically, the game puts less stress to its lore factor, and rather than telling an original story, it’s instead based on "what if?" scenarios. The game is said to function as a squad-based strategy game with the battles played out automatically with the outcome dependent upon the selection of characters set in a five-person party.
Each of the quests in the game (there are 10 available in the single-player format) are self-contained and will allow players to re-experience key moments from not just the previous Dragon Age games, but also the novels, codex entries, and others. Even characters and such from Dragon Age Inquisition will be added once the game is released.
As far as in-game classes are concerned, it is to be noted that classes can be purchased from "packs" in the in-game store. For example, while the Recruit pack is more likely to produce Common characters, the Warrior pack is expected to produce at least one Uncommon or higher ranked character.
However, while the Warrior pack offers a chance to obtain a Rare, Epic, or Legendary character, the Champion pack, on the other hand, arrives with the most desirable characters in the game.
Heroes of Dragon Age has been made free across all the platforms it has been released on and is currently available for download via Apple’s iTunes and the Android-based Google Play. Check out the trailer below.
