The Sacramento Kings have gone back and forth on their stance with Cousins. They are currently 8-15 and are on pace to miss the playoffs once again. The Kings are losing leverage if they fail to trade him this season since he can become a free agent at the end of next season.
On the other hand, the Celtics are the perfect trade partner for the Kings in a blockbuster trade. Danny Ainge has a lot of young assets and draft picks that can change the fate of a franchise.
Young players like Marcus Smart and Jaylen Brown are building blocks for the future while the two Brooklyn Nets draft picks in the next two years are potential first overall picks. Nevertheless, the Celtics are very careful about making a deal.
