Call of Duty: Online Releasing in the Rest of the World? New Trailer Shows Robot Zombie Mode [VIDEO]

The Chinese Exclusive Free-to-Play Call of Duty: Online Could Be Coming to the West

As most of us are busy playing the console exclusive Call of Duty: Ghosts, chances are good you've never heard of the free-to-play Call of Duty: Online, a Chinese exclusive title allowing FPS fans to get their CoD fix despite China's decade long ban on consoles. But with the ban's lift this past September, it looks like something of a trade could be in order, and penniless gamers in the West could still get in on the fun.

During a recent earning call, Activision's CEO Eric Hirshberg let slip that the F2P FPS for the PC could be on the way to the rest of the world. If true, it would be a smart move on Activision's part, as if the game manages to catch on, it could be a serious money maker thanks to microtransactions.

CODOL as it's known has been around since January. It's something of an anthology, as it reuses dozens of maps, character models, and weapons from both the Modern Warfare and Black Ops series. It focuses on multiplayer for the most part, but there's also a small campaign mode where the player controls Rook, and several other returning characters like Ghost, Price, and Soap.

Customization is heavier than in any other CoD title, alowing for parts like stocks, magazines, even handguards, and more, can all be customized as the player prefers.

If the shooter does arrive, here's something to get excited about. A new trailer surfaced showing that CODOL is getting its own survival game mode featuring robot zombies.

Check it out below.

We'll keep you posted if Activision confirms or denies the game coming stateside.
