ABC's "How to Get Away With Murder" ended its winter finale with a grisly reveal: Wes Gibbins (Alfred Enoch) is the body found under Annalise Keating's (Viola Davis) burning house. But now that the show has answered the question, "Who is dead," a new burning mystery arises: Who killed Wes Gibbins, and why? Unfortunately, some of the clues lead to yet another beloved character in "How to Get Away With Murder" Season 3: Connor Walsh, played by Jack Falahee.
Who killed Wes Gibbins?
"How to Get Away With Murder" Season 3 has been particularly heartbreaking and gruesome, especially with known Frank Delfino (Charlie Weber) on the run, Laurel Castillo (Karla Souza) getting pregnant---presumably by Wes--and Annalise Keating losing her job. Wes' death was merely the cherry on top of the cake, and it had been largely anticipated by fans after showrunner Peter Nowalk manifested that the show had to kill off a beloved character to keep fans on their toes.
Connor killed Wes?
But another important event in "How to Get Away With Murder" Season 3 was Oliver and Connor's breakup. This has left a significant bruise on Connor's self-esteem and sanity. TVGuide reported that he was among the likely suspects to Wes' death, mostly because Connor had never liked Wes and had even threatened to kill him before. More importantly, Connor's phone wasn't even with him during the night of the fire--a huge red flag.
A Reddit thread on this particular topic has even come up. The original author of the thread mentioned that Connor would have easily had time to spot Wes leaving the police station after sleeping with Thomas in "How to Get Away With Murder" Season 3. His reaction when he first came into the hospital also looked that of nonsurprise, and his first question, "Who died," instead of "Who got hurt," was a telltale sign.
So did Connor kill Wes? Find out when "How to Get Away With Murder" Season 3 returns next year.
