Jeremy Lin Injury Update: The Brooklyn Nets Won’t Rush Linsanity's Comeback

News of Brooklyn Nets starting point guard Jeremy Lin returning to practice has gotten Brooklyn fans something to get excited about.  Even though Jeremy Lin did not play on the Brooklyn Nets game against the San Antonio Spurs on Saturday night, a day after Jeremy Lin returned to practice, fans are just happy to hear an update on the 7 year veteran.  There are even talks that Jeremy Lin might make a comeback on the Brooklyn Nets next two games, either against the Houston Rockets or the Los Angeles Lakers, two former teams of Jeremy Lin.

But Brooklyn fans may have to temper that excitement.  They may need to be patient just a little bit more.  On Saturday, during the morning shoot around before the Brooklyn Nets game against the San Antonio Spurs at the AT&T Center, which the Nets lost 130-101, Jeremy Lin spoke to reporters and said that he's not rushing anything and that he wants to make sure that he's making the right decision in terms of when to comeback on the court.

"No, my health is most important," Jeremy Lin said. "It doesn't matter who we're playing, I'm going to make sure I make a good decision."

Although Jeremy Lin looked good after going through intense and grueling workouts before going back to practice, going back to his starting role when he goes back to the playing court is definitely out of the question.

According to Brooklyn Nets head coach Kenny Atkinson, there's no definite plan as of yet regarding the minutes Jeremy Lin will play and that he, the medical staff and Jeremy Lin will figure it out once they get there.

"I'm going to completely follow the advice of the performance team and Jeremy and figure that out. I know Jeremy wants to play 40 minutes the first game. He's already told me, but I don't think that's happening."  Kenny Atkinson further added, "We'll do the most intelligent thing in determining what the best thing is to come back from an injury like that."

Jeremy Lin has not played since straining his left hamstring on Nov. 5.  He has missed the last 17 games for the Brooklyn Nets, including Saturday night's loss against the San Antonio Spurs.
