Are you among the thousands of gaming enthusiasts that missed to grab a copy of the NES Classic Edition? Wait no more as the biggest stores in the US and Australia are filling up their shelves with copies of the popular video game console just in time for the holiday season.

Reggie Fils-Aimé of Nintendo of America assured that NES Classic Edition could hit the stores before Christmas. He said the retail giants like Toys R Us, GameStop, Walmart and Target are stocking up supplies for the season.

"All of our key retailers are letting consumers know when to go to stores to get it, so as we sit here today 2 weeks before Christmas, yeah I think consumers will be able to get their hands on it," he said in an interview with Fox Business as quoted by Forbes.

Just over a month after its release, Nintendo NES Classic Edition became so rare that resales at eBay start from $200 to as much as $25,000. Its original price was $59.99. Flying off the shelves minutes after its November release, Nintendo Entertainment assured fans that there will be a steady flow of supplies during Christmas season.

"We are working hard to keep up with consumer demand. There will be a steady flow of additional systems through the holiday shopping season and into the new year," said Nintendo Entertainment in a statement.

As fans from the around the world scour for copies of Nintendo NES Classic Edition, Target Australia was first to announce that it will start selling the device after weeks of market hiatus. In a message to Vooks Australia, Target Australia said the item will be available starting Monday, December 12. But it said that NES Classic Edition will be sold online and for buyers within Australia only.

Best Buy has also announced that Nintendo NES Classic Edition will hit their shelves starting December 20. However, it pointed out that the units will be available in stores only and not online. Online retail giant Amazon hinted that it will be selling the classic video game, but it didn't disclose any date. It only teased fans that it will have exciting announcements to make in the coming weeks.

Coming up with 30 retro games, Nintendo NES Classic Edition is a remake of the groundbreaking NES originally released in 1985.
