It's been five weeks since Jeremy Lin strained his hamstring and missed the remainder of Brooklyn Net's games. But according to a report on the nypost, Jeremy Lin has returned to practice and will soon make a comeback.
Although he is ruled out for Saturday's game at San Antonio, returning to practice is good news for the struggling Brooklyn Nets and Jeremy Lin. "He looked good. He was out there making good passes and moving well" according to Nets coach Kenny Atkinson. Rookie Caris LaVert, who faced Jeremy Lin in a 1-on-1 match also praised Jeremy Lin saying Jeremy Lin looks good on the court but still has work on his conditioning.
Jeremy Lin is one of the few bright spots on the troubled Brooklyn Nets who is still suffering from former Nets GM Billy King's awful decisions. Billy King is known for trading away several first round picks to Boston for the services of Kevin Garnet, Paul Pierce and Jason Terry all of which are past their primes. The signing of Jeremy Lin in the offseason was supposed to help rejuvenate the Brooklyn Nets and bring them back to relevance.
The signing also marked Jeremy Lin's reunion with former coach Kenny Atkinson. Their partnership in New York Knicks gave birth to "Linsanity"; a string of spectacular games from Jeremy Lin that chronicled his rise from a bench player to the starting point guard and becoming a worldwide sensation in the process. Jeremy Lin's time with the New York Knicks and Kenny Atkinson marked his greatest success as an NBA player.
In the five games Jeremy Lin has played this season, he has proven to be a vital piece for the Brooklyn Nets especially with Kenny Atkinson's up-tempo game. "[Lin's] presence is huge for us," Atkinson said. "He's been great when not playing, being supportive of the guys, but it's just different to be out there sweating with the guys and getting them together. You've seen the leadership ability. It's going to help us" added Atkinson.
With Jeremy Lin playing, the Brooklyn Nets are a much better team offensively and defensively. With Lin on the court, the Net's offensive rating was 109.3, but without him, the rating fell to 103.9 which 7th worse in the NBA. Defensive efficiency also suffers without Jeremy Lin, jumping from 107.4 to 112.3
Jeremy Lin's return to practice is a good sign for the Brooklyn Nets. When Jeremy Lin returns to the starting lineup, expect the Brooklyn Nets to be a much better team. Meanwhile, here is a video of Jeremy Lin practicing.
