For you gamers on the go, there's another title out to make your morning commute a little more entertaining. Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and DC Entertainment have made Injustice: Gods Among Us available for Android devices.
A press release this morning declared the free-to-play fighter open for business and available from Google Play. Since hitting the iPad, iPhone, and however many other i-devices, developers Virtuous and NetherRealm Studios have declared the mobile version of the game a hit with over 16 million installs and a rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars.
While Google Play's rating for the game is great, it's a different story over at aggregate score site Metacritic, where the iOS version of the game claims a 69. Given that the Android version looks to be about the same, don't expect anything to blow you away.
Much like the iOS version, the Android version of Injustice will come with unlocks for the game on console versions. Just keep in mind that while it's a free download, it's a completely different experience than its console counterpart. As you'd expect, the game features touch screen controls, but unlike other iOS fighters like Marvel Superheroes, or Street Fighter Volt, there's no virtual joystick, so player movement is controlled automatically. Light attacks, heavy attacks, super movies and special moves are all present, but without the joystick, they're performed by simple taps on the game screen.
The game itself is a free download, but you know what that means: micro transactions. Coins, the brawler's in-game currency of choice can be used to expand the game beyond its beginning roster of a measly three characters, all the way up to 36 in all, as well as more bonuses like costumes, weapons, and the like.
You can grind away for the coins if you'd prefer to protect your wallet, or just buy them outright. The decision is up to you. Thankfully, anything you can buy in the game can also be earned, so there are no exclusives taunting you.
